Teams and Playing Sites
-
Combat
South - My regular Sunday hangout. This gaming site
gets top marks. Big smokes allowed, toilets and a decent
lunch included in the game fee. The staff are friendly,
helpful and know you by name. Good atmosphere.
-
Dragon
Valley - What can I say about Dragon Valley? this is
the best urban site, ever. It is quite
a physically dangerous site to play on, but not so if you
can be sensible. Limited ammo rules, fantastic scenarios
and a helpful crew makes this one a definite must visit.
Located in Wales.
-
Wasp
Team - A team formed of some regulars at CS. I usually
end up playing with these guys, and they're okay by me.
-
Ambush
Wargames - Ambush have two sites, quite close to each
other in the Bramshill\Eversley area. I've only played at
the one. Lots of dense vegetation and close contacts. Basic
but adequate facilities and a regular location to find Team
2 Sexy, who are always a laugh to play with.
-
Sopley - An "urban" site based near Ringwood (nr Southampton).
It's nowhere near as urban as Dragon Valley, but a lot closer.
Has buildings and things, and again makes a nice change
to play there. Now CLOSED.
Related Equipment Suppliers
-
Silvermans
- Located in Mile End, London, they have a large range of
stock, most of it new. Their prices are fairly steep, but
you get new genuine issue kit. As the saying goes, you get
what you pay for... Worth a look.
-
Anchor
- Anchor supplies have about 3 depots, although I've only
been to the ones in Nottingham and Derbyshire. A large range
of kit, mainly used. They sell pretty much everything from
a button to a tank. Great fun to visit and look at all the
hardware.
-
Lowe
Electronics - Supplier of comms gear. These guys custom
built me a headset with remote push to talk for my relatively
obscure radio, and delivered it within 3 days. Impressive
service.
-
Flecktarn
- A venture started by two of the players from CS, Lenny
and Jo. Lenny being German probably helps them a great deal
when it comes to getting supplies of flecktarn camo. Despite the name they
also sell a lot of other camo types and gear. Run with typical German efficiency. ;)
-
Dropzone
Supplies - I've used these guys a couple of times in
the past. Service is variable. Not had any specific problems,
but I like to be told items I order are out of stock rather
than just getting the goods turn up on the doorstop with
an invoice saying "These are out of stock". Didn't say they
were out of stock when I ordered them... I'd use them again
though.
-
Transworld
Surplus - Army Surplus. Fast and efficient.
-
Gladstone
Boots - An online boot retailer. I have no idea what
they're like, but they do have reasonable prices on the
Magnum range. Additionally they'll give a 5% discount to
anyone who mentions this site when ordering. Can't be bad.
Anson Tactical Equipment - If you've got money to burn
and want proper kit, this is the place to come. Tactical Nomex intervention suits, 5.11 series...

Airsoft Suppliers
-
Den
Trinity - Oh how the mighty are fallen. These chaps
used to be the guys to get custom work
from. Unfortunately, Clarence Lai left a while back and
since then things have gone downhill. I have had major issues
with them over a very expensive custom pistol, which is
still substandard when compared to the original gun, and
this is after 6 months of messing around. I'll not be using
them again and cannot in good conscience recommend them
anymore.
-
WarGame
Club (WGC) - Another HK based retailer, these chaps
see a fair bit of my business. They have good stock, online
ordering and are reliable and quick to deliver. Recommended.
-
Wolf's
Lair - UK based airsoft shop. They have a badly outdated
website, but I strongly recommend a visit to their showroom.
Full of very nice guns and the ability to try before you
buy. You pay a premium for them having a physical presence,
but there is an advantage to being able to buy your kit
and having it right there and then.
-
Airsoft
Dynamics - UK based custom parts supplier. Appear to
have done a runner with everyone's cash...
-
UN Company
- I've yet to order from these guys, but a skim of their
website shows reasonable product range and some nice custom
pistols. I may well do a test order with them at some point.
That said they have mailed me twice so far with a stock
e-mail asking to be added , which I don't like. It's not
exactly spam though, so I'll give them the benefit of the
doubt on this one.
-
Redwolf
Airsoft - Another HK based supplier. Very similar lines
to Den Trinity, but the custom work isn't quite as good,
from what I hear. Still, they have a good range of items.
I haven't yet used them myself.
-
Zero-One
Airsoft - UK based mail order. I've only used these
chaps for ordering ammo, but have had good service and delivery
times.
-
Fire
Support - UK based. Excellent service and stock interface
that actually tells you if stuff is in stock. Recommended.
-
Airsoft
Scotland - No prizes for guessing where they're based.
Not used them, but prices look reasonable.
-
Airsoft
Direct - Link added at request of retailer. Stock looks
quite limited.
-
Abbey
Gas - UK based company that supplies gas for handguns.
Although a lot of people are now using propane due to reduced
cost, it's worth remembering that it doesn't contain the
lubricants that aother gas does, so it may still be worth
buying some maintenance gas to use now and again.
Other Airsoft Websites
-
Airsoft.Org
- Now defunct as the owner decided to sell up and get out.
However, the discussion boards are still going and are a
good focal point for UK airsofters.
-
Arnie's
Airsoft - I'm not sure I've ever met the chap, although
he plays at Combat South, but the site is very good. Updated
frequently and packed with reviews and technical articles.
Definitely worth a visit.
-
Practical
Airsoft - Run by Redcap (AKA: Roger Stenning), this
has useful information for beginners. Also some good stuff
on radios, and some opinions on law, which is unsurprising
given he's a former TA RMP...
-
UK
Airsoft Map - This is another version of the map, but
seems fairly clear and up to date. I should have put this
on a while ago, but you know how it is...
